There’s a lot of information online and offline these days about the Law of Attraction.
Because this is a popular topic, it seems like a ‘new age’ fad or some concept that only certain people understand and talk about. Sadly, this becomes self-fulfilling, as others who don’t like ‘new age-y stuff’ avoid the latest discussion and miss out on a colossal opportunity to change and improve their lives.
In fact, the Law of Attraction is just one of many names given to a natural phenomenon, and there is nothing mysterious or secret about it.Myriad people over the millennia of recorded human history have spoken of the power we hold to control our lives.
I am no longer cursed by poverty because I took possession of my own mind, and that mind has yielded me every material thing I want, and much more than I need. But this power of mind is a universal one, available to the humblest person as it is to the greatest. ~ Henry Ford
While we may not always be aware of what we are creating in our lives, it is always true that we are the creators. Even people who believe their fates are in the hands of a higher power can see that they are demonstrably responsible for their choices in life – that their actions and words lead to certain natural and usually understandable consequences.
It is the study of the law of attraction and learning to consciously use your energy to choose and create differently that is so exciting to everyone in this latest phase, and the internet has allowed this knowledge to be spread quickly and widely. This brings new hope to people who have never before realized their personal power, and I’m hoping will play a large part in the awakening of the species to our own possibilities, including the potential for fulfilling, cooperative lives based on peace and human communion. We are so incredibly capable of love, productivity and creativity, and if all the ‘fad’ books, movies and websites can help lead us to patience, synergy and greater understanding of each other then so be it!
As for the details of how this all works, I learned and have always taught that your thoughts and feelings are the source of your vibrations, and that what you vibrate – your energetic signature, if you will – determines what you will attract. Someone like Mike Dooley at tut.com will say ‘thoughts become things,’ while Abraham-Hicks tells us that what we feel is our attraction point. Steve Pavlina, in a great article about vibrational alignment, puts things quite succinctly in another way, saying that both our thoughts and feelings are merely symptoms. Some may say this is semantics, and for the sake of simplicity I’ll agree. What is important is that we understand that what is inside of us is what controls and directs the outside – this is the key to conscious change.
