I’m one of those people that whenever I have a re-occuring thought I take it the Universe is trying to send me a message that I don’t truly want to accept. So I had a thought about someone who used to be a very close friend about 2 weeks ago – I had the thought to drive by her house, knock - so she could see my son – I shrugged that thought. Now if you are going HUH right now, don’t worry you’ll understand in a moment. Now this person used to be my best friend – closer to me than a mother – and we would talk more than any reasonable person should – usually about 10 times a day. My entire world revolved around her. Well this person committed the cardinal sin of Ophelia ie Betrayal which was a series of lies – that eventually came back to bite her in the butt. Needless to say I was devastated and for days after the incident I couldn’t eat, my tears wouldn’t allow for any food.  I swore that day this person was dead to me and her physcial death was only a matter of opinion.

Thinking back I can remember the exact moment I created this relationship falling apart, but that is for another time. Anyway fast forward to yesterday and I took my daughter to get her hair done; I promised the hairdresser I would take her home only to find out she had moved into DC and so as I passed the exit where this past friend of mine lived again I had the thought about taking my son to see her (She is a relative of my son and since I had sworn she was dead she couldn’t possibly see him now could she? It had been 2 years). Since it was twice in a two week period I decided to follow the Universe’s nudge and go by her house. I drove by and told my daughter to ring the doorbell – when she answered I put my son on her front porch and went back to the car – while the kids went inside – her husband thanked me for bringing them by and invited me in but I decided the car was the best place for me. The kids came out along with my past friend and she wanted a hug – she just wanted me to hug her to say I’d forgiven her. As I hugged her I thought wow I’ve really grown.

Now if you are asking WHAT THE HELL DOES ALL THIS HAVE TO DO WITH MONEY? – ALOT - I just talked about forgiveness. If you are a regular person then you’ve made some bad decisions; borrowed money you never paid back, lent money you never got returned, investments that tanked, had no food, maybe got evicted, credit cards that you never paid, judgements on your credit report or any number of situations you’d classify as being bad. Most people make bad money mistakes in their past and they never forgive themselves for being in that situaton. They think ‘I can’t have money because I’m not good at handling it because I did this or that in the past, I’m not good at investing because I made an investment that didn’t work out, I’m not running a business because I’ve failed in the past, I can’t loan anyone money because people never paid me back’…Most people go through their lives and can recount all the bad money mistakes they have made, decisions they can’t forgive themselves for or decisions others won’t allow them to forget…and every money decision in the present is made based off things that happened in the past- they can’t get a credit card for fear they’ll mess it up, they can’t open a buisness for fear they’ll fail again, they can’t invest because they don’t wan’t to be scammed again BUT YOUR PAST DOESN’T EQUAL YOUR FUTURE.

Today I’d like us to take a lesson in forgiveness from the Universe and forgive ourselves for our past money mistakes. Why is it easy to forgive the someone else but hard to forgive ourselves for our mistakes?…so write all your horrible money mistakes on a piece of paper. Look at them (I would tell you guys to burn the paper but I don’t want to get emails about how I caused people’s house to burn down – pointing the finger – past lesson in this series) and realize that every decision you made was a good one at that point!!!! Looking back it may seem dumb but back then it was the best decision – No one gets to choose between bad and good decison and goes – Oh let’s take the bad one. They go let’s make this decison because it seems like the best one knowing what I know today. I don’t care who you are – that’s all you can do is make the best decision knowing what you know TODAY. So you couldn’t see into the future – who can??? By the way if you know someone who can see in the future, find out when I’m gonna have my $500 mill will you please, but for the rest of us normal folks, take today to forgive yourself for past money mistakes so you can move on and accept the abundance that the Universe is waiting to give.
