Personal Development: 21 Days and 22 Exercises to a Wealthier Mindset – Day 1
Author: ophelia | Category: Law of AttractionDo you have a wealthy mindset? Well if you are unsure how to answer that question you could start by checking your bank account. It’s like losing weight – How do you know that you are getting closer to that goal that you have set for yourself? You check the scale – The scale is a reflection and feedback of the amount of work you are putting in and the results of your diet and exercise, so it stands to reason if you want to measure if your abundance mindset has changed you look at the places where the wealth or abundance will show up. Now most will say that you can be wealthy in love or in family and friends, but how do you really measure that since most people seem to have an abundance of most of these things already?…When one thinks about something like love, air, hugs, family they think never ended, always be around – no matter what…Now when one thinks of money, food, things of that nature it switches to the fact that these things run out – there may not be anymore tomorrow.
I’ve never heard someone say Oh I’m going to go to bed wonder if I’ll have enough air to breathe tomorrow or enough love for my family?…But I have heard wonder if I’ll have enough money tomorrow, wonder if I’ll have enough food tomorrow…so I’m going to spend the next 21 days and 22 exercises focusing on a wealthier mindset.
We’ve heard that the rich and the poor don’t think differently; they think opposite, and while some people may not want to be rich – at least not in my view of the word rich – everyone wants to be a little more comfortable than they are at this moment. Unless you are Bill Gates of course and if you are reading this and you are Bill Gates, I want to encourage you to leave me a 1 billion dollar donation so I can make it to the Forbes 400 list. Okay now that I said that…back to the subject. Rich Dad, Poor Dad was one of the first I believe to introduce the concept of poor people and rich people thinking opposites, where one dad was looking for sales on old cars, one was looking for sales on stocks or apartment buildings.
What separates the rich from the poor?
While our first answer is money because we blame money for a lot of things – it’s the reason we have to work so hard, it’s the reason we are so stressed out, blah blah blah – the truth is the difference between rich and poor are the thoughts, affirmations and actions. What determines when two people start out at the same spot or station in life and they both end up two different places – one ends up working till death and another independently wealthy? It’s not luck – it is thoughts, affirmations and actions, and that’s what this 21 days are about: thoughts, affirmations and actions. So let’s start – I have conflicting thoughts on where to start so I’m going for a simple one first:
Exercise One: Your actions are your affirmations
When most people think about affirmations they think say it to yourself 50 million times a day and write it down 500. Well either my attention span is way too short to do that or I’m just plain lazy…and while most people start out with the best intentions, how long can you truly write the same words 500 times a day before your hands screams stop!? Well your brain rejects the statements long before that anyway because in your brain it’s simply not true, and if you are a pretty honest person like most of us are, then how do you expect your brain to accept these lies?…’I'm wealthy’ and your brain goes ‘yeah really why do we have -21 bucks in the bank? Please…’ So I took a step back and realized something really important that people do without much thought – your actions! Your actions are your affirmations.
Most people run on autopilot going through their day, going to work, taking care of their kids, and fail to realize that every single action you do is sending a mesage to your brain and to the Universe – telling it something about the things you believe in…Lets take a simple example – this is something Shauna and I did when we first met – we took something small and to most really meaningless – BUYING GAS. Well what the hell does buying gas have to do with being wealthy? Well it’s all connected isn’t it? So we would go to the gas station to buy gas and we were both so similar – we’d look at the gas prices and go ouch, really high and so we’d put only a little bit of gas in our tanks – maybe $10.00, maybe $15 and granted we live in two diffrent countries and still our actions were like mirrors. We thought about it…why did we only put $15 bucks worth of gas?…well because if we spent that much on gas we may not have enough money to buy something else…what was the something else? We had no clue, but whatever that something else was…we were affirming THERE ISN’T ENOUGH, THERE ISN’T ENOUGH MONEY. There isn’t enough money to buy gas and buy whatever else we wanted and so we’d buy a little bit and then we’d be back at the gas station in 2 days, thinking the same thing – there isn’t enough money to buy gas and still have money for other things – and when we looked through the rest of our lives we were affirming it everywhere – there isn’t enough money to do this, there isn’t enough money to do that – so our first exercise was to fill our tanks of gas everytime we went to the gas station – and man that was hard…
We spent so long thinking if I buy this there won’t be enough that we couldn’t do it the first couple of times, but what started happening as soon as we started to fill the tanks? We realized geez there is enough money to fill the tank and still have money, there is enough money! Soon we moved to the next step – PREMIUM GAS. You can imagine the fight our brains gave us as we battled with the affirmations ‘I don’t have enough money to buy premium gas’…
So now we wake up and we only buy premium gas and fill up our tanks and people think well you are crazy – but see we do have more than enough to buy that and everything else we want but we had to get there…
So exercise one today is to look at your life. What are the money thoughts you are affirming on a daily basis? Do you go to the grocery store and think I don’t have enough to buy the things I want…I don’t have enough money to do this or that…’? And pick one area – really small area in your life – to change your affirmations, not with your words but with your actions. Then leave a comment so we can know what you thought of day 1′s exercise.

I’d like to start by thanking your for your insightful words. Every day I come here to this blog and learn something new, or read something that keeps me thinking positively for the remainder of the day.
An illustrative story, if you will: Today I took my car in for a 60,000 mile service, costing $350. I also learned that I had additional needed repairs: a new radiator, new brake pads, a new belt (I forget which kind), new tires, and a new air filter. Instead of panicking, I immediately said how grateful I was that I had a car, and how fortunate it is that my car runs safely. I felt pleasure that I have the money in the bank to be able to pay for these repairs.
I feel totally confident that my finances will more than cover the cost of these repairs and that my car will continue to run safely and smoothly as long as I have need of it.
Thanks to you all at this blog, my mindset has totally been changed! Thanks so much!

Hi Jamie,
I’m so glad that you are able to read and gain something or leave feeling positive – I’m very excited about your car situation- this was a good way to show the Universe that you are realizing how great your life really is and how much you have to be gratiful for and believe me as soon as your use that money more will flow in to you. BECAUSE THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY to pay for your car expense and still have everything else.
Love Ophelia- Hey I’m using the Love Ophelia thing alot lately..

Actually, to be a smart aleck, some cars run better on regular gas. My Ford Escort SE’s manual says to use the lower octane. She’s a beautiful car and a fabulous machine, by the way, and that’s not sarcastic!
I appreciate this blog so much – and I’m really looking forward to the next 20 days or so. As for actions – so far today I have looked at emails for possible jobs, looked for and joined positive yahoo groups, followed my daily plan fairly close, and printed/taped up some of this post.
The thing is though – what should I be thinking when I go shopping and “I don’t have enough to buy the things I want…I don’t have enough money to do this or that…’?” Tonight I have to buy dog food and more printer ink before going to class, and the bank accounts are very low.
I was thinking something along the lines of “I have plenty of money, I choose to get something else with it,” instead of all the things I want that would overdraw my accounts!

Hey Theresa,
I don’t find that saying I have plently of money works very well when your mind instanlty goes to the bank account is low- so how about if you buy dogfood- you say there is more than enough money to buy dog food- I’m grateful- If you have money for dogfood and printer ink then it’s I have more than enough to buy dogfood and printer ink- the idea is to get your mind to start thinking THERE IS ENOUGH instead of the bank accounts are low and there isn’t enough and since you came home with the dogfood and printer ink then it’s the truth so your mind starts thinking there is enough.
After you do it awhile then you see that there always seems to be enough then you can move it up to I always have a surplus. Just like the gas it’s all habits.

Thanks Ophelia
Doesn’t look like I’ll have time tonight to stop for those after all, but I will use your feedback when I do – probably tomorrow or Wens or Thursday. Turns out Heidi will eat the canned food I wasn’t sure about, so I can stretch things out a couple of more days

This sounds like a silly question – but when you (meaning anybody who’s reading this) began working on being positive all the time, did you find it exhausting at first?
Last night I came home and was tired, almost like I had worked all day. I haven’t been working like that, so this hasn’t happened in a while.

Hey Theresa,
No question is silly- In terms of the answer it’s just like lifting weights- If you are just starting out its going to be hard at first and you come home tired and it’s the same thing- it takes alot of mental energy to stay positive when things aren’t going great and when you’ve been thinking negative most of you life- But it will get easier and it will be fun and things will work out fine.
