Paying Homage to Your Journey
Author: Shauna | Category: Law of Attraction, Law of Gestation, Personal DevelopmentSometimes, when we set our sights on magnificent and inspiring goals, we place ourselves on the path of achieving them and then eventually find ourselves feeling…stuck. We have put in work, we’ve learned and changed, we’ve been doing all the ‘right’ things, and yet when we look up from our path the goal still seems so far away. Has this ever happened to you?
Fear not, it happens to all of us who have lofty goals and aspirations. As the old saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, yet somehow we expect our results to be more evident, more forthcoming. We forget that each of those thousand miles contains hundreds of individual steps, and that in each moment we can only ‘see’ the few steps behind us and in front of us. Because of this limited view, we tend to forget how far we’ve come, and it is this amnesia which brings about feelings of stuckness (that may not be a word…:) ).
The truth is that life is dynamic and ever-changing, so there is NEVER a time when things are exactly the same as they once were. Even if you wanted things to remain the same, they would not – it’s not possible. In order to feel better about the journey you are on, you need to look back and see how far you’ve come, and to realize that you and your life are truly evolving, whether your outer world shows evidence or not. Some tips for getting your perspective back include:
- Keep a journal or some other record of your goals and dreams, your plans to achieve them, and your feelings, accomplishments and adjustments along the way. By documenting your journey you are providing evidence of where you’ve been, and if you’ve really been learning and growing you will find there are some major differences between ‘then’ and ‘now’ when you read your journal entries from a year ago.
- As Abraham-Hicks tell us, sometimes what happens is we look around at our current situation and see ‘what is,’ and this becomes our focus (see next point as well). Instead, we need to continue looking into the future at what we wish to create, while at the same time doing those things in the now which will continue to lead us there. Hold your vision in your mind, and adjust it as you go. See it, feel it, treat yourself as if you were already living it, and then live into it!
- Remember that the Law of Attraction brings you more of whatever you focus on, so if you’re feeling stuck and uninspired, guess what? You’ll get more of the same, and who wants that? Bear this in mind always, and vow to do whatever it takes to reset your thought processes in order to keep your mind on how you want things to be, not what you don’t want. For difficult days or moments, try such tools as visualizing, meditation, EFT and creating and watching a personal vision video. You may also find that just improving your mood and emotional vibration puts you back on track; try our Inspiring Videos for an instant boost, and of course anything that makes you feel great – funny movies, a walk outdoors or other physical activity, etc. – will help.
- Almost every person who has defined and ultimately fulfilled their own vision of success says the same thing: it took lots of false starts, many wrong turns and much in the way of hard-earned wisdom to finally make it. Those who settle and never try for anything may know what’s coming tomorrow (same old thing!), but they will never know the joys of reaching cherished goals and living a life full of passion and joy. Part of that passion is the emotional roller coaster that comes with pursuing your dreams, so instead of resenting it, ride the roller coaster and enjoy, knowing it’s your own special amusement. Each hill and valley is getting you closer to your dreams, and without the learning and growing you are doing along the way, none of them would ever come true.
- One last note and that is to remember that life happens in cycles. We cannot always be ‘up’ and feel inspired, although with personal development those times can be more frequent and prolonged. Sometimes we just need to rest or spend some time incubating and contemplating, in order to bounce back refreshed and ready to go. One of my favourite quotes is “Resting is paying homage to the magnitude of your journey,” and I couldn’t agree more. Relax, have some fun and take the pressure off yourself. You don’t need to be moving forward at every moment…enjoy the wonderful adventure that is your life, and take it easy sometimes!

Thanks, Angelina! I love the name of your site – Conscious Mamas. I look forward to poking around…:)
I was digging around our archives and found this little post that speaks to this topic also: http://breathingprosperity.com/blog/law-of-attraction-your-life-in-the-residual
It’s amazing how much we can change and grow when we are CONSCIOUS.
Love to you!

Hi Angelina, good article. Reminds me of the story of the chicken who laid the golden egg. We often think that the golden egg is more important and neglect the chicken. But without the chicken there can be no golden egg, as the guy who killed the chicken found out. So, the lesson here is to take care of yourself. Rest now and then if you need to and appreciate yourself. Because face it, you need the best of you to make your dreams come true.
Keep well,
Jimmy

Jimmy, thanks so much. Angelina was a commentor, actually. You are so right – we really do need to appreciate and bring out the best in ourselves to make our dreams come true. Resting is part of taking care of and respecting ourselves. I hope you are doing that for yourself! xxoo ~ Shauna

OK, seems my ‘delete’ button has a mind of its own today. This lovely comment is from the amazing Jason Fonseca at SpiritSentient.com:
So good, so good. Thanks for this Shauna…
I agree, life can be seen as a journey, and all journeys have rest-points and smooth-sailing times. It gets confusing if we start seeing the rest times as ‘stuck-times’ or the downhill parts as ‘out-of-control’ or smooth-sailing times as ‘time-to-settle.’
That’s EXACTLY it! Resting is not necessarily settling or being stuck…unless we make it so! ~ S
P.S.
(LOVED the rock-climbing pic by the way, perfect for the journey metaphor, and reminded me of my own post on rock-climbing as wisdom: Rock Climbing as a Metaphor for Life)
Thanks for noticing – I’m always careful about the visuals I choose…they can anchor things powerfully for us, if we let them. I’m always happy to share your insightful content, Jason. No worries! xxoo ~ Shauna

You are absolutely right on with everything you said in this wonderful post, Shauna. Oh, that we can all learn to live in the moment, enjoying our now and, as you say, paying homage to the magnitude of our journey (I absolutely love that phrase!), we will see so much more clearly the path that lies before us.
People joke about Yogi Berra’s famous quote, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.” But there’s an awful lot of wisdom in that. As Abraham (Hicks) says, “you can’t get it wrong, and you can’t get it done.” Just enjoy the journey itself, no matter what direction it takes.

Hi, Steve, and thanks so much!
The journey is so exciting in and of itself — so magical. I love the way you think, just based on your comment, and of course on the way you chose to name your business. I wish you phenomenal, continued success, and look forward to (hopefully) hearing more from you!

Shauna, you reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from the Greek philosopher Hericlitus. “We never step in the same river twice.” Of course it looks like the same river, but the water is always moving. There is no status quo. And as you said, “life is dynamic and ever changing.” Thanks for reminding us.

Dr. Dyer, thanks so much for dropping by. I LOVE that quote also…and all the quantum physics research that is telling us that, in actuality, everything is flashing in and out of physicality at lightning speed…meaning that each moment really IS new, with new choices available. It’s all good.

I have been trying this visioning stuff for years. I have tried selling things on ebay, looking for odd jobs, etc., doing affirmations, you name it. I am still stuck, still can’t pay my bills? How do you become unstuck when it comes to living in lack?

Robert, thank you (I see you come from MetaphysicalMamas so maybe it’s not Robert, but that’s the name on the email…). Living in the moment while granting thanks and meaning to the past and future is a balancing act I’m still figuring out, but it certainly pays off in spades just to try! xo ~ Shauna

Hi, Drogovska;
Try reading through the archives here and at hte main site, for one…our collective journey started with deeply lack-based mentality and we did much work – and shared it here – that improved our outlook and of course our financial lives as well. It all starts inside, and visualizing is jsut one of MANY tools available. Good luck, and thanks for visiting! xxoo
