I let my immediate response to Michael's post go back then, but after rereading the original post and answers while searching for something else today, I decided to post.

With all due respect, Michael, you are one Christian, please don't assume you speak for all Christians. If that is how you see and interpret being a Christian, that's wonderful, but there are several varieties and interpretations under the umbrella of Christian.

I believe that on volatile subjects, especially politics, religion and so forth, that generalizations can be very dangerous and should be avoided whenever possible.

Also, while I understand that the "The Secret" at least partially discusses the Law of Attraction, I don't see it as the same thing. LOA was around long before TS ever appeared.

I could refute at least some of your points, but since I don't care to get into a religious theological debate, I'll leave this at that.

Just stopping by while doing some research on the law of attraction / the secret. I decided to comment because of what I perceive (from a Christian perspective) as the real crucial issue. I don't think it's about sitting back and waiting on God vs. getting off your buns and doing something yourself (I believe there is a time and place for both). However, I do believe that when we generalize God and start to think that the universe=God, or that even we=God, then there is an issue. Consider this quote from Rhonda Byrne's best-selling book "The Secret":

"You are God in a physical body. You are Spirit in the flesh. You are Eternal Life expressing itself as You. You are a cosmic being. You are all power. You are all wisdom. You are all intelligence. You are perfection. You are magnificence. You are the creator, and you are creating the creation of You on this planet” (p. 164).

Or, perhaps, this one:

"The earth turns on its orbit for You. The oceans ebb and flow for You. The birds sing for You. The sun rises and it sets for You. The stars come out for You. Every beautiful thing you see, every wondrous thing you experience, is all there for You. Take a look around. None of it can exist, without You. No matter who you thought you were, now you know the Truth of Who You Really Are. You are the master of the Universe. You are the heir to the kingdom. You are the perfection of Life. And now you know The Secret” (p. 183).

I think that these are the types of issues regarding the law of attraction and the secret that Christians should be concerned about.
