Is ‘Save the Cheerleader, Save the World’ Keeping You in Poverty?
Author: ophelia | Category: Law of AttractionI had originally planned to finish my piece on love and resistance to love, but I’ve decided to move back to my original passion which is MONEY… and money programming.
I got a phone call today from LaKeitha about a cartoon she was watching with her kids – Between the Lions - a regular cartoon, until they showed the skit of a wife and husband who are poor and the wife turns to the husband and says “We only have one radish BUT at least we are HAPPY!” All I’ve got to say is HUH – WHAT! – HUH (Confused look on my face).
Now I don’t know about most people, but I can tell you I am not happy when I’ve only got a radish to split between two people. Who comes up with this stuff to teach toddlers? We’ve only got one radish but at least we are happy…HELLO!!! If it’s okay I’d like to say that’s a pile of bull – that’s like we may not have money but at least we are honest. Listen, hungry people are not happy. You catch me on a day when I haven’t eaten and see how happy I’ll be, much less a radish to share between both of us. We most definitely will not be singing KUMBAYA.
It seems this lack mentality and teachings are in every single aspect of television. One of my favorite shows is Heroes, and I had been watching it loyally since the buzz was out. This past week, the rich people view smacked me right in the face and then it became very apparent why the show took on such popularity so quickly. I’m a huge Randy Gage fan and he talks about writers and how they write to feed our lack mentality – they don’t do it on purpose – but I want you to take note that these same writers that show money in such a bad way ARE GETTING RICH OFF US WATCHING AND FEEDING INTO THIS STUFF…
Anyone who has watched Heroes is aware of the story line: SAVE THE CHEERLEADER – SAVE THE WORLD! Where oridinary people like me and you discover our super human abilities – How totally cool! Who doesn’t want to be able to fly, read minds, start a fire with your hands, be invisible or my personal favorite live forever. So of course this cheerleader Claire is an orphan, and last week we got introduced to her mom, who can start fire with her hands. Now of course the mom makes a call to the father she hasn’t contacted in 16 years to say ‘Hey your daughter whom you thought was dead came to see me today.’ The dad can fly – I wanna fly, I wanna fly!
Now mom wants money to keep quiet, and dad volunteers to give her $100K to keep quiet – after all he is running for an election. Dad has a conversation with his mother (Claire’s grandmother) and what does his mom advise him to do? Let someone deal with this; he’s running an election! (After all, well-to-do grandmothers have no time to go visit a grandchild who reappears after 16 years…now that will just ruin an election won’t it!) Claire comes to see her mom, who now lies and says your dad is gonna give us $25K – half of this is yours (where is the other $75K you ask) and that she would be leaving for Mexico so will not see Claire for awhile.
Dad comes to see mom – gives her the money as mom lies about telling the child the father didn’t want to see her and asks if she should call the daughter to tell her come back. Of course he says NO! Imagine the adopted kids who watched that episode!
So, what have we learned today?:
1) We may only have one radish but at least we are happy
2) Moms who haven’t seen their kids in 16 years will give them up at the offer of money
3) Grandmothers and fathers care about money, politics more than their own child or grandchild
4) Politicians care about getting elected more than their own flesh and blood (okay maybe)
5) Parents really don’t care about their kids – money is more important
